4 x Session SUP Coaching Programme

This short course is suitable for complete novices to those with some experience but who want to learn the correct techniques to be able to paddle safely and result in the award of the Paddle UK DISCOVER award.

Focusing on the technique alongside physical and psychological aspects of paddling you will become a safe, proficient and capable paddler in a way that builds personal confidence, wellbeing and improves mental health.

This course is based over 4 x 90min sessions. Once you’ve signed up for the 1st session we can tailor your schedule across available sessions without having to book on line every time so that you participate and progress at your pace and availability.

 

Required

Palace Paddlers is the activities arm of Active Growth Ltd, which is a certified Coaching and personal development enterprise that incorporates conventional coaching, sophisticated psychometrics, adventurous activities alongside nature to develop bespoke solutions that build capability and improve well-being.

As British Canoeing Level 3 Coaches we consider each of the following four areas when developing your bespoke development programme:

Physical considerations; Psychological considerations; Tactical considerations and Technical considerations associated with your style of paddling.

What to bring

If you’ve already done a Paddlesports Award with us you’ll know that we have shower facilities on site and provide all your equipment and SUPs.

You will need to bring:

  1. towel
  2. water bottle
  3. water shoes
  4. sunscreen (rec w/p F50)
  5. shorts / tee-shirt (Summer months)
  6. wet suit in colder months (if you have one)
  7. snacks / food

We also recommend bringing a notebook and pen to assist with building your development plan and helping understand areas that you want to focus on as you progress towards your goals and objectives.

Itinerary

On arrival you’ll be met and checked in by one of the team who’ll explain everything that’s going to happen.

You’ll be shown where to change and when ready you’ll have an introduction to the kit and a safety brief, then we’ll head down to the lake, warm up and get on the water.

As trained Coaches and Instructors we focus on your learning needs, so will tailor the session to ensure you make the best possible progress in the 3 basic areas:

  1. Moving forwards
  2. Turning and
  3. Climbing back on…

Throughout the session we will review progress and any areas requiring additional attention in your development plan and discuss how and when to take things forward.

We will develop your personal development plan that will include areas that you will focus on between sessions to achieve the agreed and required progress towards your goals.
